Just wondered if you are starting to cut your winter feed? I'm going to have to cut Eddie's for sure. I have cut it quite a bit but obviously not enough. He didn't know what to do with himself in the field tonight, roll, gallop, dig, stamp the ground, buck, rear, you name it he was doing it.
It doesn't look like the grass is really coming but he must be getting something somewhere. He even decided to chase my dogs around the field, not sure if that's a trick Vinnie's taught him but never mind. Vinnie spent ages trying to stop the seagulls landing in his field the other day, just as he's chased one away another landed, the poor old boy was fair buggered (he wont share his field with anything).
Last weekend everything was cancelled with the bad weather so I thought I'll take Eddie to the local all weather gallop to take the steam out of him. First time up was ok we were lobbing along quite jolly, 2nd & 3rd time he just couldn't be bothered & he wouldn't have blown a candle out when we pulled up (lazy sod to say the least!), then I take him home & he's flying around the field like a loony bin......

i got that wrong she's on Top Spec cool and condition cubes.
I was playing with my little coblet in the field the other day and I had led him to the far corner of the field. His mother who's a sec A and usually aloof and expends as little energy as she has to ( bit like me) was neighing for him at the field shelter at the bottom of the field. The next thing i know, this little grey streak come bouncing up the field, bucking every stride. She stopped, reared ,bounced on her back legs like a lippizanner stallion, threw herself to the ground rolled bounced up and took off again bucking. There is something in the air it could be spring!

Jones has had his lunchtime feed cut out totally as he's got plenty of weight on him & the grass is coming through nicely now. Still being fed twice a day at the mo, but will probably start reducing what he's getting over next few weeks.

i think ill have to up bruisers feed cos he is showing some ribs since i increased his work and with all the traveling he is doing, so he is now getting some bran to help his tummy cope with the change and more soya meal and some baileys # 1 which is ment to be for the stallion to put weight on him but he wont mind sharing ha that is on top of the oats, hay chop and sugarbeet and fish meal too

Ive kept Maggie's food the same as she can't go out for too long on the grass as where we live its really lush as we live near a river, she only goes out for about 3 1/2 hours a day and is then quite happy to come in and eat hay!!
