They have different actions. When I was young many moons ago, flashes were only used to attach a standing martingale to and everyone used drop nosebands Now you can't buy a bridle that doesn't have a flash as standard. If you look on this website it shows really clearly the actions of both nosebands www.sustainabledressage.com/tack/bridle.php

Hugely depends on what works for each horse, so worth borrowing before you go buying new kit.
Flynn crosses his jaw, so a cavesson is not really an option, but he is is a complete sh*t in a Flash & bit hangy in a Grackle. Absolute sweetheart in a Drop!

What it is, lucy when i am asking her to stand,my friend noticed that she was starting to open her mouth, so she said to put a flash on her for a while so she does not learn about opening her mouth avoiding contact.

My understanding of them is this. Flashes are used for jaw crossing, opening mouth and pulling etc. Grackles are more poll pressure for a stronger horse...or just depending on what the horse prefers. I could be wrong though...I dont really know much!! Im rubbish at explanations too. Have never used a drop so no clues about that. Go for the flash, less pressure.

Mmm, not so sure about the advice. If you are working Lucy into more of a contact than she has been used to, then she is working a whole load of previously idle muscles. When you stop & give her a loose rein, she will need to flex & stretch a wee bit. If she is responding to all of your aids & doesn't seem to be trying any evasion, I wouldn't be in too much of a hurry to go changing your noseband. Give her a chance to work things out for herself before you try & prevent a problem that might not be really there yet If she really is trying to cross her jaw, then my opinion is that the drop is far more effective than a Flash & worth the effort to find. Let us know how you get on!

Aye hon - Alliecat is right. All the flash will do is clamp her mouth but but it will not ''teach'' her not to open her mouth because as soon as it comes off she will open it again !!!!
I have been riding Brian in a grackle the last couple of weeks and I have finally given in and gone back to a loose plain cavesson - he HATED it, just like he hated the flash.
Each horse is different and I am sure that in time Lucy will learn to accept the bit nd a contact without opening her mouth honey so don't be too quick to clamp it all shut with a flash honey :-)
