SCOTNORTH – JUNE NEWSLETTER
We have had another busy couple of months with plenty of classes going on around Scotland and The North, with more still to be added.
Can I apologise to those of you who have been trying to get in touch – a mix of computer problems and some personal matters have made it very difficult for me to keep on top of club matters for the past month, but all is back on track now after a lot of catching up !!
I shall start posting results on the website as these come in from the show venues.
I am delighted to advise that Leah Fleming and Pyramid won the Davey John Memorial Trophy (ridden) at the BHS Borders competition day.
There were also DJ Memorial classes at the Central and West Fife show. The ridden class was won by Supreme Day and Julia Furness. The in hand class was won by Roscommon and Sally Northcott. I was VERY embarrassed that last year’s winners had not returned the perpetual trophies, despite efforts to contact them. If we do not get them back soon these people will be named and shamed !!! My apologies to Jules and Sally, if need be we will buy replacement trophies and get them to you both.
On the note of remembering very dear horses, I know that many of you knew and loved the distinguished gentleman Jad’s Lad, loved and cared for by Jacqui Baird who gave him such a fabulous ‘’retirement’’. Jad sadly made that journey to Rainbow Bridge in May. I have some very fond memories of him and he will be so very much missed by his adoring fans. I remember one show, there is a photo of it on the forum, where Jacqui and her mum are standing chatting and Jad is behind, all tacked up and happily grazing between classes. I also have a beautiful photo of Jad and Denzel at the Musselburgh race course parade, I love it and I am so glad that it was taken. Jacqui, you gave your boy the most wonderful time when he left racing and thank you for sharing him with us over the past few years.
This is a rather short newsletter as I have loads to catch up on, results, new shows in the pipeline etc and another more detailed one will be issued shortly.
Below are the current dates for July and August. As you see, there are some fabulous shows and venues and I do hope to see you at some of them. The ERFA show will be very emotional for me as the class is in memory of my lad Rambo, who went to Rainbow Bridge on 4th July 2010. I hope to see lots of you there, and I am sure Rambo will be delighted too.
