Can anyone help me establish if my new horse was actually in training at some point? The previous owner believes that she was before she got her but has no details. The mare came with an ID passport which was obviously applied for to comply with the changes in the law and does not have a pedigree passport. I have checked on Racing Post and other websites but she does not appear although she may not ever have raced. I enquired with Weatherby's and was told that if I could provide dam and grand dam details (which I can't) they can do a search and it costs in excess of £1000 so that's a non-runner! I would love to do ex-racer classes with her but obviously I can't. She is Dancing Spring II, 11yrs old.
There's more... Can anyone help me with the Mckenzie Point to point almanac? I'm looking to trace the history of Double Collect gelding 1986 who I sadly lost a couple of weeks ago after 10yrs of retirement with me. I have his history from Racing Post etc but it's the details of the 8 p2p wins that I would like to know. I've never seen this publication so I don't know what details are held. I think his last win was at Hurworth when he beat the favourite probably 1998/9. I know that this race was televised by Sky and am desperate to try and get a copy of it (I have seen the recording when I bought him but haven't got my own copy). You can imagine that since his death I would like to record his history so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Gill, with regards to your first question, have you checked to see if the horse is microchipped? If she was chipped in racing the chip has a number which should correspond to the horses original passport and therefore breeding. If it hasn't then I'm not sure how you will find out her breeding/training history. Ring your vet and ask them if they will check if she has a microchip. Its just a scanner that picks up the chip so will only take a few seconds. They may also have more ways of finding out breeding. If she is not coming up on internet searches it might be that she never raced. I tried typing her name into 'At the Races' website which brings up info and video footage of horses in racing but nothing came up. I hope you manage to find out more info. Good luck
