SCOTNORTH JULY NEWSLETTER
Well – we have a few high profile events coming up in August.
8th AUGUST – FESTIVAL OF THE EX RACEHORSE/HENDERSYDE
We are delighted to announce that IAN STARK will be judging the Master class on 8th August at the Festival of the Ex Racehorse. It is fabulous that he is giving up some of his time to judge this class, especially as he is also competing that day on one of his young horses.
He will not be able to judge the in hand or veteran because he is competing – so judge for these classes will be announced shortly.
I hope we can show him a great turnout, including supporters to come along as support and cheer everyone on as per last year, and a great time so that he will be happy to come and judge for us again.
Schedule is available on the main website www.scotnorthexracers.co.uk
8th AUGUST – ULTIMATE SHOWCASE/GT YORKS SHOWGROUND
Yes – the Ultimate Showcase is back. We are delighted to announce that there are ScotNorth in hand and ridden classes.
For our members in the North this is a fabulous opportunity to show at the prestigious Great Yorkshire Showground.
Again, I hope we can show this event our support with a great turnout.
Schedule is available on the Ultimate’s website www.usoc.co.uk
22ND AUGUST – MUSSELBURGH RACECOURSE PARADE
This is a great opportunity to take your beloved ex racehorses back to the track and show them off. The parades at Musselburgh are always great fun and for those who have not yet done one, there is nothing quite like the feeling of absolute PRIDE riding around that parade ring, hearing your horse and history over the tannoy, and seeing trainers, jockeys, previous owners and race goers admiring your horse. Many of us have cried as it is quite overwhelming.
There is a post on the forum if anyone wants to add their names, it is getting quite full so be quick.
28TH AUGUST – SOUTH DURHAM SHOWING GROUP CHAMP SHOW
Another great show in the North. I had the pleasure of judging at the July show and the turnout of ScotNorth members was extremely impressive.
A schedule is available from their website www.sdsg.org.uk
29th AUGUST – HORSEPARADE CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW – YORK
Here is yet another high profile event that is hosting ScotNorth in hand and ridden classes. The venue is fabulous, it is where we held our first annual show 3 years ago – wow how time flies. It is being held at the GG Centre, Raskelf, York, YO61 3LL .
There is overnight stabling at a very reasonable rate £20 per night inclusive of all bedding and hay. All the details are can be found at www.horseparade.co.uk
30TH AUGUST – GLENDALE AGRICULTURAL SHOW – WOOLER
This is a really lovely Agricultural show with something for all the family, so you can drag along other halves and children too ScotNorth in hand and ridden classes. This is our first year with classes at this show and it would be great to have our usual double figures in the number of entries. It is easily accessible for our Northern members too.
So – as you can see, we have a really busy August right across the membership area. The planning committee do work very hard for you, securing shows at good venues and we look forward to seeing the results coming in and receiving the positive feedback we always get from the show organisers.
Please also do remember to post your photos on the forum, who knows, it may appear in the next Scottish & Northern Equestrian magazine if you do. We can guarantee there will be one of a huge grin from whoever wins the Master class, being presented with the beautiful trophy by Ian Stark – that will be a photo to treasure whoever wins it.
So – good luck everyone for August. Keep the reports coming in, but most of all, HAVE FUN and STAY SAFE.
