Well Jeff managed to exceed ALL expectations today! He turned up in a bit of a sweat. Got tacked up and headed down for our Lightweight Hunter class and after a short walk and trot we had to go into the ring. I expected him to be like Fife, a bit jig joggy but not too bad. Expectation one - exceeded - He walked round the ring, a little bit of jog, a bit of canter. Then trot - well that didn't happen! Straight into a wrong leg canter which turned into a counter canter. Then the canter go round was fast with a high head carraige to say the least. Then we were asked to gallop down the long side - fantastic! *rolly eyed smiley* The judge was to ride but I asked for her not to, which she then turned round and said that she was going to have to ask me to leave the ring anyway as she used to work for Lucinda and had ridden Jeff in work ... and no one remembers her ...
A couple more hours of work later ...
Racehorse class. Jeff walked round! Then trotted lovely, cantered lovely. Wasn't the biggest fan of standing still again but better than a fortnight ago at Fife. He did a lovely show but had a bit of a spook at one of the jumps in the ring, which was my fault as I cut it too fine going round it. Then we had to strip tack ... Lets just say it all went well but, and I think Catriona will agree with me, the leg ups were less than dignified! So Jeff finished 3rd in that class. Went straight back in for the in-hand. He was a little joggy in walk, again, didn't stand overly well but still much much better than Fife. So he finished 2nd. Clever pony.
And to exceed another expectation - it took 2, yes 2!!!!! HOURS to load the beast to come home ... Oh, and just to top it all off - he reverted back to racehorse mode and bled! *rolly eyed smiley*
A few others on here did very well but I'll let them tell you, so as not to spoil their fun!
