hi im just wondering whether anyone can give me some advice on conditioning. my horse was managing really well with the grass and didnt need much feed over the summer but now shes goin really skinny again. i was feeding her conditioning cubes, chaff and fibre beet but i found that she was getting a bit too full of herself on all that. Can anyone suggest a conditioning cube or mix that is good without making her fizzy??

Hi I use Dodson and Horrell build up cubes, they have been excellent, she keeps her weight and doesn't make her silly. She gets these with fibre beet and chaff.

Top spec balancer and top spec cool and condition cubes worked for Tickle. The cubes are fibre based so shouldn't heat her up

If you are looking for cheap conditioning cubes, Coxydene at East Calder do their own brand for £7.75 a bag. Apparently they are made in same factory as D&H.
I dont know where you are but I think other places sell them as well

My lot did really well last winter on Alfa A Oil (£12?), Baileys Every Day Cubes (were called Economy Cubes) and Top Spec Balancer. I'd say that the Top Spec really did the trick to keep weight on him without using the really expensive conditioning cubes and no fizziness whatsoever!
Also - make sure she's well rugged up!

top spec comprehensive with top spec cool and condition cubes and speedi beet and Alfa A oil i found this to be the best and the top spec seems dear but it actually saved me money as cos they get the most out of their food you dont have to feed much of the cubes to get the same effect. prior to that i was going thro a bag of conditioning cubes a week !!!!!! top spec were great onthe phone and ever sent me a voucher for money off with my old horse ( before top spec was invented) i swore by allen and paige weight gain - but he wasnt a fizzy type so i dunno if its any good to you

oh and the dengie bags are so densly packed that they work out cheeper as you get more in a bag some chaff bags are only 12kg so you think your getting them cheep but actually its just the bag is smaller and you need to watch with chaff that it doesnt contain too much molasis as that will make her fizzy
