Hi
Increasingly there has been confusion with various clubs running ex racehorse events - we want to make sure that you register with the correct one to avoid disappointment, although there is nothing to prevent anyone being a member of multiple clubs.
We are known as:-
Scottish & Northern Ex Racehorse Club, ScotNorth, SNERC
If you see any of the above references in a schedule then it is us that you need to register with. we always add our web address www.scotnorthexracers.co.uk so you can check that way too.
TARRA
This is the Thoroughbred and Retrained Racehorses Association, an affiliate of ScotNorth and vice versa. Classes are mainly in the south of England but with with a growing presence in The North of England. Their website is www.tarra.co.uk
ROR
This is the national charity Retraining of Racehorses and in order to compete in their classes you do need to be registered with them. Most of their classes are in England and The South although it is very pleasing to see they now have a class at the Kelso Show in July each year. Their website is www.ror.org.uk
Ex Racers Club
This is an online club for ex racehorse owners. We are not associated with it in any way.
Scottish Ex Racers
This is also the Ex Racers Club, it added Scottish Ex Racers as a name after ScotNorth was founded. Many of their schedules say ''Incorporating Scottish Ex Racers'' but this is not us (Scottish & Northern Ex Racehorse Club and you will have to register with the ex racers club to take part in these classes.
We do hope this helps you to identify which club you need to register with in order to do the various classes.
As with other riding clubs, there is nothing to say you can not join multiple clubs and benefit from the events organised by them all.
The reason for this clarification is to avoid disappointment where people join one thinking it is another, or believing that membership of one qualifies for entry to all events.
Any queries please email us
Thanks.
