Hey gang
Im thinking of changing piggy's feed. He was getting the BAileys no4 topline cubes and Alfafa Oil chaff and a bit speedi beet in winter. I took him off the top spec balancer as once again, it worked initially but then i have seen no further difference, He's been off it 3 months now and he hasnt lsot any weight or condition.
I have seen a difference when he first went on them, but i feel he needs more. I know ther cubes have been working but the Chaff i dont think has madew any difference at all. I CANT HAVE HIM FIZZ UP since he is out of work jsut now. So what kind of chaff//bulk do oyu feed along with your mixes/cubes?

Mine are on more or less the same as yours apart from they have micronized peas and they have full fat sugar beet not speedibeet. The peas are a bulk feed but also help with weight issues. I think with the Alfa oil you see results over a long period of time rather than almost straight away, Bob was on it when we where showing every week and his coat was amazing. Mine are also on Bailey's no 11 Racehorse Cubes but, they are exactly the same thing as No4 but usually about £2 a bag cheaper,so speak to your food merchant and see if they can get it in for you. Apparently the reason for the different name is just that racing yards don't like feed bags that say 'conditioning' on them and most horse owners wouldn't have a bag of feed that says 'Racehorse' on it.

thanks bobby, might have a look into the racehorse cubes.
He has been on the alfalfa oil for voer a year, but his caot is always shiny cos he gets brushed to with in an inch ofn his life and gets oils in his feeds too.

Interesting.... I have just done a side by side comparason, as I thought "what can't be" but your right they are pretty much exactly the same. I am going to think about that as Ru has lost a lot of weight

Try Blue Grass feeds hun, they're Northern Ireland based but have stockists in the NoE and Scotland. I used to have Charlie on their 'prep 14', basically a racing feed designed to be fed to 'normal' horses They do a wide range of feeds, have a look at their site or give them a ring xx

eyes is on a high fibre diet in fact basically an all fibre diet and he is in top condition and is in full work.
he is fed hi fi top spec feed balancer and top spec fibre plus cubes
but remember if he is out of work he will have lost some muscle.
eyes is the fizziest horse I have ever sat on and this feed plus his calmer work for him.

Mine is on high fibre, alfa a oil, top spec conditioning flakes, stam 30 and fibre beet! The fibre beet is like sugar beet, it's almost mash like lol very palatable! Charlie loves it, and he's filling out real nice with this combi
