At the moment Chief is on..... Grass! Dr Green on it's own has been great this year and he has never been so round!
When he's stabled (Sept - Nov and Feb - April) i feed the Simple System feed. It is fantastic for horses sensitive to feed and i would never change him off it - fab stuff.

Claireandchief where do you buy your SS from? Do you know if there is anywhere in Scotland that sells it?
I used it about 4 years ago and I did like it, although was slightly concerned about the amount of feed that was given each day. I had to buy a pallet at a time though from SS themselves and it was very costly, not to mention the storage of it all!! The prices are even higher now and I don't think my OH would be too impressed if I bought another pallet!
Magic is such a slow eater that I think it would take him most of the night to get through his tea!

I ring the local rep and put my order in with her. She delivers once a frtnight in the area so just have to make sure i don;t get too low. The delivery is about £10, but the feed lasts so much longer than a normal bag of feed that i find it works out cheaper. The best thing reallt is to give the HQ a call, they may have more reps in your area now so you wouldn't have to buy so much in one go. Give me a shout if you want any more info. x

I've been feeding His Nibs twice a day all through the year, as our grass hasn't been too good or plentiful. In addition to 24 hr grazing, he's been getting 2 feeds a day of:
1 scoop Alfa A Oil (c 2 lbs) 1/2 scoop Speedy Beet (c 1 lb) 1 measure Biotin 1 measure Garlic 1 tbs Salt Carrots, apples, bread etc to mix in.
This week, 'cos he seems to be losing a bit of condition, I've started to add Baileys Outshine - by the end of the week he'll be on 1/2 a scoop (c 1 lb) per feed. He's also getting haylage twice a day.
