Has anyone had any experiences with Baileys Conditioning Cubes?! I bought them to give to Magic to see if they would improve his weight, however he seems to have turned into a bit of a looney! I know it says none heating, but it's the only thing I can think of that would make him behave in such a different way from when I bought him!
I was giving him the recommended 2.5kg a day and I have to say I see no real difference in his condition only his personality! He's been getting them for the last 2 weeks, and they have ran out now, but I'm not planning to get any more for him!

It's just that it would seem to be the ony thing that is different. He was very quiet and sane when I got him and is now so hyper that if I sneeze beside him, he just about leaps out of his skin in fright!! Could be that he was sedated when I bought him, but that wouldn't have lasted 3 weeks would it?! It's only the last 2 weeks that I've seen a real difference in him. It could also be that he has now settled and is showing his true type?
I had a PBA 3 years ago that was fine until I fed him Alpha A!!! I could't catch him for the 6 weeks that he was being fed it for and he was as high as a kite! That happened within a week of being fed the Alpha A and I then discovered that a lot of the Arab show people feed Alpha A 4 days before an In Hand show to get more sparkle and on the toes behaviour, so at that surely any feed will be well in the system within 2 weeks?

Could well be the baileys cubes then if he was fine before he went on them. Top spec do cool condition cubes. They didn't do much from my mare though, shes much better on D&H high fibre cubes. I cant feed her anything with alfalfa in it. She comes out in scabby lumps, her hair falls out and her feet abscess. It's trial and error.

Sounds a lot like my boy gets when i feed him any thing with sugar/cereals in he has an intolerance to them and gets so jumpy and nervous over everything, im going to try simple systems feeds this winter they are mainly fibre feeds.

Could it be that he was feeling under the weather before you started feeding them and is now feeling better in general. You could try a high fibre cube or something similar for a week or 2 and see how you go. My mare is affected by flushes in grass/sugars etc and at the minute is getting a handful of pony nuts with her stroppy mare supplement and is in psycho mode just on grass.

It could well be the baileys I used to feed eyes cool mix when I got him supposed tome non heating itturned him into a raving loony but he was ok on baileys and alfalfa although still a slight loon but at least I could siton him but he is now fed top speccool condition cubes and hi filite as well as top spec comprehensive balancer.
He is normally on the top spec fibre plus cubes but he lost a bit of condition just with the weather and the grass not being so good this year so put him on the conditioning cubes and they really brought him back into tip top condition he will be back on his fibre cubes soon.

Speak to Bailey's, they are very good for giving advice, or, go on their website and see what the difference is between the conditioning cubes and No4 or No11. My guys where all on the Topline No4 but are now on No11, which is exactly the same as No4 but cheaper.

Thanks again guys. I am off work tomorrow and will give a few of the feed companies a ring. I'm sure its the feed, as it is such a transformation of a horse that was so quiet before. On the plus side I now know what to feed him to make him hyper!!! I wonder if the chaff I've given him could also be the culprit. I've given him a small amount of Halley's greengold (pure Lucerne) in each feed (probably about 500g). Seems that Alphalfa is guilty of producing silly behaviour!!

you can email baileys on info@baileyshorses feeds.co.uk they are really helpfull
i do think tho that some times horses can be quiet when you first get them and then when they relax and settle their true charactor comes out lol Argent was the same he was so boring and just stood there when i first got him and when you turned him out he would just walk away now he is a lot happier looking and cheeky and nibbles my pockets and stands for hours getting patted and has even been spooking out hacks!!! shock - i dont mind tho - hes still so cute

It could well be that too Lyndsay!! It's either that he is happy where he is and his true character has come out, by which case I think he may be a bit too much horse for me, or it's the feeding.
Fingers crossed it is the feeding as I've had lots of my confidence knocked from me over the last 4 years and I bought Magic as he was very quiet and steady and seemed good at giving me a bit more confidence.
