Basil is a 13 year old stable star who has retired through tendon injury to a foreleg below the fetlock. He has been out at grass for the summer to give his tendon time to fully heal and is now ready to be re-homed.
He is a very good horse to ride with a great nature. He would be great for hacking and showing, and in time he would be sound for jumping too but his new owner would need to give him more time before starting to jump him. He LOVES to jump, as you will see from his photos.
It would be best to bring him back into ridden work slowly, just to build him back up carefully and give the tendon time to strengthen up but his trainer is confident that his tendon is fully healed and should not be a problem provided he is brought back into work carefully.
Basil is 15.2h and quite chunky – great for you ‘shorter’ people out there
A couple of his racing photos are attached, He is the one in the white, red hat and sleeves and a blue square on body
He is free to the right home BUT you should think hard about the financial and time commitments that come with the responsibility of having a horse before you decide – just because a horse is free does not mean that it going to cost any less to look after so please do think long and hard about whether you can commit financially and time wise before deciding to take him on.
Also, the trainer is looking for a 'forever' home, not one where he will be brought on and sold on so please bear this in mind. He has been a great servant for their yard and they want him to have a happy and secure retirement.
If you think you could give Basil a forever home, please PM me. I will let you know his racing name if we get to the stage of you wanting to go visit him
Thanks
