The Shrewd Cookie (or Bertie as he is known) is a 16hh Bay TB gelding by Bertolini. He is a stunning heavyweight TB bred for NH racing.
Bertie has been out of work for 12 months due to no fault of his own (I have had a baby). Due to this I can't commit the time to bring out his potential and am now looking for a good home for him to go to.
Below is a bit about him.
Bertie has lovely manners and can be handled and ridden by novices. My husband handles him happily and he had never touched a horse before he met Bertie. I also taught a friend to ride on him and he never put a foot wrong. Bertie doesn't react to other horses in a school enviroment even if they are boisterous.
Bertie can be lead to the field while his leader is also pushing a barrow of hay and he won't even try to take a bite.
Bertie is stabled on a working farm and will happily walk past cars and tractors. I live in a very quiet village so I can't say if he is 100% in traffic as we have virtually all offroad riding.
He is good to shoe/box (takes about 5 mins and a bucket of feed)/clip/dentist (had a nip of sedation the last time as he needed to have about 15 mins filing done and was getting bored but no malice in him) and vet.
Lives happily in or out and gets on with both mares and geldings. Bertie keeps weight on well.
Currently barefoot and has excellent strong feet (that said his feet are desperately in need of a trim at the moment as I was rushed into hospital to be induced and my daughter was only 4lb so has been in special care. Obviously farrier will be seeing him ASAP)
Before I fell pregnant Bertie was working well in the school, taking a contact and working well over poles. He has also been in the show ring and behaved like a gentleman everytime.
Jabs/teeth/back all checked and upto date.
Excellent home only for this lovely horse stabled between York, Selby and Leeds. Please contact me if you have any questions at all.
