Finnie is suffering a bit from these due to having flat feet...any ideas on how to toughen him up a wee bit?
Thanks
Gemma

Jad's the same - my farrier recommended Keratex hoof hardener for the soles as well as the lower half of the outside of the hoof & I have to say it has made a tremendous difference. You just need to be careful not to get it on the frog but there's a little paint brush in the pack so it's dead easy to apply.

well i have had this problem with buzz and use keratex hoof hardener and supplements , but due to the problems im having just now with buzz's feet due to farier error , i have just went and bought the cavallo -simple boot these are AMAZING and are so easy to fit , they really are worth every penny it means buzz can get turned out where as he would be standing in just now , they have millions of uses bruised soles , absesses, laminitis and so much more they would be ideal for your horse and the best thing is they stay on throughout anything i could honestly not find fault in them , good luck i know what your going through , xxx

Keratex is good it does what it says on the tin. It's really easy to apply. You can also ask the farrier to fit pads under the shoes. Feeding magnesium also helps keep concavitivity in the feet according to barefoot people. If T doesn't get her calmag, her feet flare and go flat. Hoof boots are wonderful arent they getatem. I had equiboots and they were ok. I got some old macs off Denise and they are the dogs doodaas. I looked at Cavellos they looked really good and easy to use.

If you compare the cost to shoeing every 6 weeks they arent that expensive. The cavellos look really good you'll have to let me know how you get on with them The old macs are fab

lol honestly ive been going about telling everyone about them , they are super my best purchase ever apart form my horsey lol , they have little drainage holes so all the water comes through them if it heavy rain , and also they dont cause thrush etc , they have never rubbed buzz's legs etc as normally i have this problem , they are really easy to put on the slip on and have two velcor fixtures at the front then two velcro straps and a secure buckle on each end of that they have never came off throighout all the rain and mud in the fields which is like a swamp i just take mine home every night and dry them on the raidiator after washing them and the velcro is so strong, im going to try riding in them tommorow so il let you all know how i get on but as miss tickle says they arent expensive when you think of the price of shoes these days if anyone wants to try mines when im finished with them just let me know , they are so handy to have around the yard ! , i know linz he is so cool with his nike air max's my vet was really impressed too , xxx
