Well just as expected the new farrier never turned up and I'm now on my 3rd glass of wine!! His excuse when I finally got hold of him was that he had phoned me at 2pm to make sure I was at home, I was actually outside at the stables having brought Magic in. I called him at 5pm and he was just in and he said he would call me back.......surprise surprise I am still waiting and its now 9pm. When I checked the phone display unit there was no call from him at all. The last incoming call was from my husband at 12.45pm. [sigh] I'm sick to death of this situation and am now seriously going to look at just giving up on horses. The last 4 years have produced nothing but difficulties and this really is the final straw. Sorry to be so doom and gloom, but I just have no fight left in me to continue when every way I turn I hit a brick wall.

oh that is a flippin nightmare. did you try to get one to come up the way? please don't give up, it would be such a shame. i know it has been a real worry for you but something will get sorted. did you hear back from stuart armstrong? even if you get the boots, you still need to have someone to trim their feet. somebody will come up with something. hang on in there

Poor you! Don't personally know anyone down that way, but will ask my farrier when he's out tomorrow.
Other thing that crossed my mind is that you are only about 40 miles from Lesmahagow - might be worthwhile to phone Billy Stewart & Linda Jamieson & ask who they use?

HURRAY David has been and Magic has his shoe back on again! It wasn't a cheap exercise (he charged £30 ) but at least he is back in business. I just need to get him to calm down enough now that I can actually get back on him!!! In fairness to David he spend a while with Magic studying how he moved and checked his legs and back etc. He has worked down in England for 12 year at racing yards and was a mind of great info! He also explained fully about pin firing, which was a relief and he seemed to like Magic a lot. Fingers crossed that I have finally managed to get a decent farrier!!

The relief is immense. Just need to concentrate on getting my confidence back up again now and pray that Magic calms down a bit!!!

Hi Jayne
That's great news - if you want any help getting him started again just PM me - sometimes getting back on after a break is the hardest thing to do but once done it just gets better. If you want some moral support I am happy to come over to be there with you.
LisaH xxxxxxx
