I'm wondering what to feed Eddie this winter, he always does sooo well when out on grass 24/7 I was thinking of trying a grass feed like "just grass" from d&h. He gets top spec balancer & I wont be changing that & he usually gets calm & condition & he does well on that too... but I thought since he does so well on grass if I could keep feeding him grass all year round out of the bag he might keep his condition better..... what do you think??? He isn't a big hay eater, I can fill his haynet & he'll only eat about half normally.
Has anyone tried grass pellets or grass feeds?

Wee Mintys teeth have smoothed out so hay is difficult for him. I have been giving him Spillars hi fibre cubes. I soak them for him because of his teeth and he really loves it and is looking brilliant. He will continue to get that over the summer. Worth a try i suppose.

iv fred the redy grass before - think its the same stuff - its lovely and the horses love it but you have to feed quite alot of it it obv not as good as fresh grass as its been dried tho you are ment to feed it by the bucket load and some horses got a bit borred of it i found but was good to just add as a chaff to tempt fussy feeders i sound like im contradicting my self lol but all horses are different - my old boy would be happy to eat anything but coisty is fussy and he liked a handfull in his dinner but any more than that and he would end up not eating it al all i must say iv tried it and it tastes like tea and smells lushhhhh smells like the silage when its just cut and put in the pit im babbling sorry

I fed Todd A big bucket of Just Grass over the winter in his stable along side his hay and he loved the stuff. Todd's not a big hay eater either and would also leave half is hay net.At least giving him the Just Grass I knew he was eating something at night.

That's exactly what I was thinking of doing just leaving him a bucket of the stuff to nibble away at through the night, everybody now I'll look into which product to go for Gemma I couldn't leave him out as my oh has built me a shed 24 x 36 ft with internal stables & if I tell him I'm going to leave the horses out I think he'd be leaving me

Also, if you put Eddie out early and leave him out till late then he won't be standing in too much anyway. That is what I am going to do with mine now they are all together and at home. They will get thrown out at about 7am and not back in until 8pmish I think that they will be happy though, well except Denzel who loves being in his stable! L xxxx

I will leave him out as long as possible during the day but I'm definately going to give him a bucket of grass as a midnight feast for him to munch away on, I really think he'll do well on it. I know my feed merchants have the Just Grass that Valerie's mentioned so I think I'm going to give that a bash. thanks everybody

I fell in love with grass pellets and found them great for my boys. so much so they will be part of their winter regime. I like readigrass but it can be dusty and I have enough trouble feeding hay without it blowing away I'd have no chance with the readigrass.

Michelle do you feed grass pellets wet or dry? I did ask to see grass pellets at my feed merchants but they didn't have any do you know which company does them?

my sister soaks them but just for like an hour but her pony is very old you see
hers just come in a canvas bag not sure of the company but i think gibbs make them do they not?
they just look like pony nuts but greener you often get them in course mixes if you look in the ingredients list
